Attorney Kathleen Kearney has represented severely injured individuals and families throughout the state of Texas since 2006. Kathleen has been licensed in Texas as an Attorney since 2006, and a Registered Nurse since 2000. She maintains board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care (CPNP-PC)(opens in new tab) and has "retired" status as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)(opens in new tab).

Admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas, Kathleen may also appear before the Supreme Court of the United States as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.

Kathleen has been recognized by Super Lawyers(opens in new tab) (Thomson Reuters) every year since 2012, and was named a Texas Top 50 Up & Coming Woman Lawyer in 2018 (Super Lawyers, Thomson Reuters).  As a young lawyer, she was named a Top 40 Lawyer Under 40 in Texas by The National Trial Lawyers(opens in new tab).

Over the years, Kathleen has served as a volunteer mediator for Dallas County Dispute Resolution Center(opens in new tab),volunteer attorney for the Dallas Bar Association’s Legal Line(opens in new tab), and volunteer nurse for Dallas County Medical Reserve Corps(opens in new tab).

Over the years, she has sponsored local public high school marching bands including Trinity High School(opens in new tab) and North Dallas High School(opens in new tab). Kathleen has also served as a volunteer judge for the state high school mock trial(opens in new tab) competition, and volunteer at career day at public elementary schools in Dallas.

Kathleen received the Distinguished Service Award from The American Association of Nurse Attorneys(opens in new tab) in 2016, and was named Big Sister of the Year(opens in new tab) for Dallas County’s chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters in 2014. She also served as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)(opens in new tab) from 2019 to 2021.

Kathleen was invited to join the Texas Bar College(opens in new tab) in 2020, and the Pro Bono College(opens in new tab) in 2022. In 2023, she completed the Dallas Bar Association's Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion CLE Challenge(opens in new tab) and values diversity, equity, and inclusion in our schools, work, and communities.

Kathleen is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Legal Medicine, The American Association of Nurse Attorneys, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, Dallas Bar Association, and Dallas Women Lawyers Association.

In years past, Kathleen was a member of Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice as well as a Trustee for The American Association of Nurse Attorneys Foundation, and President of the Texas chapter of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys. Kathleen was also a proud member of Texas Nurses Association until the local chapter began advertising for ICE in 2025. Kathleen is the child of immigrants.

Nursing Faculty Experience

Kathleen currently serves as adjunct faculty for the RN to BSN program at Dallas College. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with nurses and nursing students. 

From 2009 until 2025, Kathleen was on faculty at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing where she taught nursing jurisprudence, ethics, and other RN to BSN courses. She  won an exceptional teaching award in 2020, and was promoted from assistant professor to associate professor in 2022. Her experience teaching nursing law and ethics further strengthens her ability to evaluate complex injury and wrongful death cases.
